I started Environmeanttobe as a platform from which to write about and explore the nexus, tension and contradictions that arise between art, nature and society. However, since it’s inception, this blog has evolved into rather a visual exploration which I do mainly through photography, rather than a written one.   For a while, I have been of the opinion that art has a role to play in our turbulent times, not only to inform and inspire, but also to assist society in the transition towards our presently uncertain future.  More recently, it has also helped me traverse the choppy waters of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment, which I am only just feeling able to talk about and work through, visually speaking.  I believe even more strongly now that art can help direct our attention to what is really important for continued healthy, human existence on our planet in the 21st Century and beyond…
